Before event: Eggs. I find eating eggs before a competition keeps me feeling good most of the day. I won’t get hungry and won’t be too full. If it’s an early competition, sometimes I’ll just blend raw eggs with milk and banana. Bonus if you add spirulina powder. If you’re worried about salmonella you can  buy liquid eggs pasteurized. 10 oz glass of tart cherry juice.
